Brit Milah is the Jewish ritual circumcision of newborn baby boys. It is one of the most fundamental traditions of Judaism, extending back to the time of Abraham. The physical act of Brit Milah creates an everlasting spiritual bond between the new Jewish child and his Creator. Indeed, it links the child to his rich Jewish ancestry and to his Jewish brethren throughout the world. The significance of Brit Milah is profound for both the child and his parents.  The Brit Milah is an extremely joyous occasion - it is a time of genuine celebration. Traditionally the Brit is performed by a Mohel – an expert in both the surgical technique of circumcision and the Jewish laws pertaining to it.

I have been labeled “The Gentle Mohel” as a reflection of the considerable effort I devote to minimizing pain to the child. Pain reduction is of utmost concern to me while performing a Brit. Trained by one of today’s foremost Mohelim, I take great pride in my professional qualifications and skill. I live in Queens, New York, and practice primarily in Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Long Isalnd.
Unfortunately, many circumcisions are done without enough emphasis placed on pain minimization to the child. This is evident to anyone who has been witness to the 15-30 minute ordeal a child has to endure in a hospital-setting circumcision. Complete with nerve block injections, the usage of heavy instuments and clamps, and being tied down to a hard plastic circ-board,  suffice it to say, it’s a forgettable experience. In stark contrast, I can typically complete an entire Brit procedure in a minute and a half or less. Yes, you read that correctly – the entire Brit procedure, from the moment the first of my carefully selected, extra-gentle instruments come in contact with your baby until the time his diaper is back on, and more importantly, has stopped crying, is less than 2 minutes. (that’s less time crying then the average visit to the doctor’s office!) Upon request, I  have a Registered Nurse available to participate in the procedure.

My ceremony is very meaningful and accommodating to all attending. I have had the honor and privilege to be involved in Brit Milah for more than 8 years, and have  practiced Brittot in Israel, and the United States, for Jews (and non-Jews) of all affiliations and backgrounds.

I understand that there can be a lot of uneasiness and stress in connection with a Brit, so please, do not hesitate to contact me to discuss the type of Brit Milah I perform.  May you, your son, and your family, have a happy, healthy, and meaningful life together.

 Mazel Tov and Congratulations!
